Bush Banned from Church of the Nativity

BETHLEHEM, April 01, 2003 (Online): The Church of Nativity, widely believed to be the birth-place of Jesus Christ, decided to ban entry each of the US President George Bush, his Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Foreign Secretary Jack Straw the privilege of visiting this sacred place, which is one of the holiest Christian shrines.

The move came in protest of "the aggressive war these leaders have waged against Iraq," top Clergy of the church said.

The Church Parishioner Father Panaritius made the decision public at a massive protest demonstration organized by Orthodox institutions in front of the Church of Nativity."They are war criminals and murderers of children. Therefore the Church of Nativity decided to ban them access into the holy shrine for ever," the parishioner said.

 It's Such a Chore

Why does everything get to be such a chore? So often I've started new projects that I really was happy about and once it gets going, it gets to be a chore. It has happened with jobs, relationships, and new creative projects. But then sometimes just living seems like a chore.

Am I expecting too much from something outside of myself? Am I such a drama craving person that when things are working out, when things are going the way they are supposed to it's boring, and a chore? At this point I don't get it but I think the above gives me a clue. Hmmm... writing about things makes them clearer.

This chore attitude happens to me because: I've always been this way. I've gotten bored so much through my life. There's no excitement. It's too tame. I know it's stable, I'm safe, healthy, I have everything I need. But I'm bored. Even doing something I love is boring. I guess I need that stimulating adrenalin rush of a pending crisis. It gives that little kick. It's exhilarating. That feels good!

Cleaning the house is not fun. I guess that's why people call it doing "chores", huh? Does everyone feel like this? Like they need a break from life, from reality? What breeds it? Not paying attention to the beauty and lack of gratitude, I'd guess. And maybe not paying attention to your "Higher Power" or God or Goddess. It's about focus. What am I focused on? I'll go find some beauty.

 Twilight Zone Marathon

I'll bet I'm not the only one watching the Twilight Zone Marathon today.

I wasn't a big fan of the show in the past, but the older I get the more I see how ahead of it's time it truly was.

As referred to in the show about 'Peaceful Valley', when given the secret to relieve all of humanity's ills what do people do? Use it to create something that causes suffering, death, and destruction to others. So when 100 years ago, a stranger comes to a small town with a similar secret device, he only gives it to Peaceful Valley to use for themselves. It can be of no help to the rest of the globe.

What a sad state. Are greed and evil a steady accompaniment to humans? Apparently so.

When Will Christians Figure It Out?

The religious fundamentalism rampant on this globe is doing so much to turn people off to religion. People do not want to be identified with intolerance, judgment, or hypocrisy. Unfortunately, those few in any religion are the ones the media focuses on and that is what sticks in people's minds.

There are some fantastic people around Blogstream who are Christians so there have been quite a few postings and conversations about this topic. I don't want to be too redundant.

Do parents ever consider that it's more or less a child's 'job' to separate from the parent? To rebel? If a parent tries too hard to force a child to do something, it's almost like taking out insurance to guarantee that the child NOT do it.

What comes to mind is the people who really need some spiritual help, such as alcoholics attempting to recover, involuntarily put up a wall against God because of all this fundamentalist baggage.

Sadly, this goes back for centuries. The lessons from God through certain very special human beings are deep and glorious. It's the little people who get in the way.

 SULPICIA: 6 POEMS

No. 1

At last. It's come. Love,
the kind that veiling
will give me reputation more
than showing my soul naked to someone.

I prayed to Aphrodite in Latin, in poems;
she brought him, snuggled him
into my bosom.

Venus has kept her promises:
let her tell the story of my happiness,
in case some woman will be said
not to have had her share.

I would not want to trust
anything to tablets, signed and sealed,
so no one reads me
before my love--
but indiscretion has its charms;

it's boring
to fit one's face to reputation.
May I be said to be
a worthy lover for a worthy love.

From: SULPICIA: 6 POEMS

Sulpicia was the niece of the distinguished statesman and patron of letters, Valerius Messalla Corvinus.

Era: First Century B.C. - Ancient Rome
